Castle Semple Regatta

Some great performances by SPRC rowers

Spurred on by glorious weather, 23 Strathclyde Park Rowing Club members descended upon Lochwinnoch on the 11th of May for the Castle Semple Regatta. There were wins, mutiny from the steering footplate of the men’s 4x, and plenty of fun had by all!

Wins came from both the junior and senior camps over the course of the day. Ailie Ord and Liz Davidson were the first to take gold, winning in the Masters 2x category, ahead of two Castle Semple crews with home water advantage.

Forming a composite crew for the Novice 2x, Stevie and Ella of Glasgow University Boat Club first won their heat and remained on top form to win again in the final.

Ailie returned to the water with Gillian Connal as her crewmate for the Masters 2-, competing against fellow club member Paula Hubens and her composite partner Rebecca of Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club in order to claim the victory.

In the next race Stephanie Dancer helped three Castle Semple rowers to a win in the Masters 4x.

Stevie formed another composite crew with Catie of St Andrew Boat Club to take on three other crews in the J15 2x and win another gold.

In the J15 1x Stevie won her heat and then went on to the final to beat her competitors with clear water and take her third gold.

In the Mixed Novice 2x, Stevie and Finlay raced against Stirling Rowing Club to earn their gold, bringing Stevie up to four wins and the club to seven wins for the day!
